James J. King
A recognized and experienced leader in both government and business.
A former Republican member of the Maryland General Assembly representing Anne Arundel County, James quickly became the legislator that colleagues and businessmen turned to when bi-partisan solutions were needed to difficult economic issues. A member of the House Economic Matters Committee, and the Business Regulation Sub-Committee, James has an in-depth understanding of the issues facing Maryland’s business community. While in the Legislature, James also served as member of the Unemployment Insurance Sub-Committee and the Joint Committee on Base Realignment and Closure.
After his service in the General Assembly, James’ combination of legislative and business experience led to his appointments to the Congressional and Legislative Redistricting Commission and the Video Lottery Terminal Location Commission. James has built a reputation as an honest and trustworthy advocate for the small business community and is respected by elected leaders on both sides of the aisle.
In addition to his experience with business issues while in the Legislature, he has a unique business perspective as one of the larger employers in the region. James owns and operates businesses throughout Central Maryland and Virginia and employs over 400 people. He has served as a Board Member for numerous organizations including the Restaurant Association of Maryland, Gambrills Crossroads Business Organization, The Connor Cares Foundation, The Anne Arundel County Business Roundtable, and the United Way.
